How do you give employees a taste of union contract negotiations without sending them on the road for 6+ weeks to observe them? Even then, are they learning the best practices in that time?
This 2-day course is designed to demystify union contract negotiations and to give participants a taste of what it’s like to work through them as a team. They will learn negotiations planning, best practices for drafting proposals and maintaining a negotiations notebook, how to deal with the curve balls that inevitably come during negotiations, and how to sell a deal to both the union and employees - all in a simulated environment. Over the course of the simulation, participants are tasked with achieving modifications to a mock union contract that suit the needs of the business while also addressing the union’s demands that are critical to getting to a successful ratification without a strike.
Recommended for: Employees, including non-HR employees, who have a mid-level understanding of unions but don’t have union contract negotiations experience or best practices.
Time commitment: 2 full days in person + a 1-hour mandatory pre-simulation webinar
