HR Policy held the inaugural session of its Fundamentals of U.S. Labor Relations: A Training Program for Senior HR Leaders, providing member CHROs and other participants a practical overview of federal labor law and labor relations.
The three-day, nine-hour course offered attendees a comprehensive overview of the American labor law and policy landscape. The course was directed by a tremendously knowledgeable faculty with decades of labor law and policy and CHRO experience between them: Shelly Carlin, Executive Vice President, HR Policy Association; Dan Yager, Senior Advisor, Workplace Policy, HR Policy Association; Roger King, Senior Labor & Employment Counsel, HR Policy Association; and Rick Warters, Corporate VP, Employee & Labor Relations (retired), United Technologies.
The curriculum provides CHROs with a valuable deep dive into the fundamentals of federal labor law and labor relations management, including:
- A brief history of labor relations and labor law in America over the last century and into today;
- The fundamental aspects of the National Labor Relations Act that CHROs need to know;
- Keys to maintaining positive employee relations;
- Basic elements of the union election processes;
- Keys to successfully negotiating collective bargaining agreements; and
- Addressing the current trends in employee voice.
Participants were able to directly engage with each faculty member as well as participate in breakout sessions in which they discussed real life case exercises with their peer CHROs.
We hope you can join us for the next offering of the Fundamentals of U.S. Labor Relations, which will take place April 12–14, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET each day. Find out more and register for the course here.
