U.S. employees ranked increased pay (64%) and greater personal wellbeing (61%), including work-life balance, as the most important factors in considering a new job in a recent Gallup poll. Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccine policies that align with personal beliefs (43%) and diversity and inclusion (42%) came in as the 5th and 6th top factors.
Employees’ preference for increased pay and benefits has increased since the last time the survey was conducted in 2015, when 41% of employees cited them as “very important.” Work-life balance and well-being also rose from 2015, when 53% of employees ranked them as “very important” compared to the current 61%.
The ability to do what they do best (58%) and greater stability and job security (53%) came in at spots three and four, respectively. The same percentage of respondents today as in 2015 said they would seek job security and stability if they were to switch jobs.
We will discuss these issues and more at our 2022 CHRO Summit, to be held in-person on May 31–June 2 in Chicago. Please visit the event site for more information.
