From insightful discussions to a powerful keynote session, the Center On Executive Compensation’s 2024 Annual Meeting was a resounding success. Our event brought together leading CHROs, Heads of Total Rewards, and Executive Compensation professionals for a productive day of learning and discussion. Thank you for being part of it.
? Keynote Spotlight: Janet Dhillon, Former EEOC Chair and former Chief Legal Officer at Dollar Tree, kicked off the event with a timely fireside chat on the impact of the election. Her insights were a powerful reminder of the importance of agility in workplace and people strategy.
“In general, you’re going to see a lighter touch on the regulatory front – but with the exception of DEI and immigration,” Ms. Dhillon warned. She shared that despite bipartisan agreement on certain topics such as restricting non-competes, it will still be difficult to pass legislation with a (predicted) narrow Republican House majority.
? Three Key Takeaways:
Our expertly crafted sessions tackled today’s critical topics, from navigating pay transparency and DEI challenges to understanding compensation committees’ evolving role in human capital.
Get Ready: Pay Transparency & Pay Equity
Don’t get comfortable with an annual review – pay equity is going to be an ‘always on’ capability and your processes need to evolve as your organization evolves,” said Renee Rudolph, Senior Director of Executive and Broad-Based Compensation at General Mills.
Emphasize the “why” and make sure what you say is true. “If you pay for performance, you need the data to show it,” said Syndio CEO, Maria Colacurcio.
Three Models of ESG Board Governance
“Clients, customers and investors are bifurcated on many issues, and your stakeholders will pull you in many different directions” said Nickle LaMoreaux, Chief Human Resources Officer at IBM.
Use the Center’s guide to identify critical ESG topics and connect them to your core business strategy and culture.
Developing the Head of Total Rewards: Strategies for Strong Internal Partnerships
“I am advising on much more than my technical space. Since I’m building the sustainability of the workforce, my work crosses the spectrum of the organization,” commented Caryn Steinert, Head of Total Rewards for GE Aerospace.
The panel of world-class Heads of Total Rewards discussed how the role has changed from a technical expert to a trusted advisor and explored how to build strong cross-functional partnerships to enable success.
? Meaningful Networking
Attendees connected and shared challenges and goals, building valuable relationships across the industry. The collaborative atmosphere made each session even more dynamic and rewarding. This year’s participants said:
