America’s Large Employers React to Supreme Court Decision on Vaccination and Testing Requirements
WASHINGTON, D.C. – HR Policy Association, representing chief human resource officers of more than 390 of the largest employers in the United States, reacts today to the Supreme Court decision on the Administration’s Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) for COVID-19 vaccination and testing.
HR Policy represents employers of more than 11 million Americans, or nearly nine percent of the U.S. workforce, and has been supportive of the Biden Administration’s goal of broad employee protection through expanded COVID-19 vaccination and testing and has collaborated with the Administration to provide the large employer perspective as it has developed various COVID-19 prevention policies, including the ETS. Despite the ongoing legal uncertainty, HR Policy members have spent the last few months preparing for compliance with the ETS.
President and CEO of HR Policy Association Timothy J. Bartl said, “HR Policy Association and its members understand the importance of widespread vaccination and testing to eradicate or reduce the spread of COVID-19. Although the ETS was blocked by the Supreme Court, HR Policy members will continue their commitment to providing safe workplaces for their employees as well as health care, leave, and other benefits to support those who become ill.”
HR Policy Association member companies provide their employees access to free vaccinations, with many members also offering incentives to get vaccinated such as paid leave. Large employers have also implemented many new, non-traditional benefits to employees and their families during the pandemic to support evolving workplace and workforce needs, including increased mental and behavioral health services and additional childcare services, among other benefits.
“The Association and our members welcome the opportunity to continue to assist the Biden Administration in its efforts to mitigate and eradicate COVID-19,” said Mr. Bartl.
