Throughout December, India has reported a slow but steady decline in Covid-19 cases. While testing has remained consistent, India's daily case count has decreased below 20,000 daily cases with daily fatalities falling below 300. The current recovery rate is around 96%, with fatalities at 1%, and active cases at 3%.
India’s vaccine delivery plan was finalized by the government after successful dry-testing was conducted in all states. The program will be rolled out on January 14, 2021, beginning with a population of 300 million deemed “high risk.” The goal is to complete vaccinating these high-risk residents by July 2021, using a robust delivery mechanism based on India's experience with the Polio Immunization Program.
The good news: India currently has two vaccines which should be stored at temperatures between -2 to -8 degrees – an easily manageable requirement.
