HR Policy Association Statement on Voting Legislation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, with several state legislatures considering voting reform legislation, HR Policy Association, representing chief human resource officers of more than 390 of the largest employers in the United States, issued the following statement regarding foundational principles that policymakers should incorporate:
The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democratic society. It must be assured and protected. HR Policy Association members believe that the integrity of a representative government relies upon a reliable and secure voting process that ensures broad access and participation. Unwarranted restrictions on voting that serve to limit this foundational right would undercut the opportunity to be counted which many Americans have fought hard to gain.
As we seek to increase understanding and foster unity in our country, and strengthen the cultures of belonging in our companies, we call on policymakers to reinforce and expand voter participation through balanced, nonpartisan approaches to elections.
